About Me I am introspective, introverted, and passionate artist with a love of photography. My passion started with a bright pink 110 film camera that I would run around with as a child photographing my family, friends, and other findings. My passion only grew with my technique and knowledge through my classes in high school and at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). I deeply enjoyed handling film and working in the darkroom.
While at MCAD, I discovered an allergy to the fixative chemical used in the darkroom that pushed me from film to digital photography. I missed the hands-on process of working with film. In an effort to overcome the barrier keeping me from working in a traditional darkroom, and to fulfill my desire for a hands-on process, I researched alternative processes and taught myself about cyanotype photography, which I am not allergic to. In 2011, I successfully funded the creation of a series of cyanotype images through Kickstarter campaign. To create my cyanotypes, I photograph with a digital SLR camera, print large negatives from the digital images, mix the chemicals, and hand-dye fabric or coat paper with the cyanotype mixture to create the final artworks. I have displayed the images during the St. Paul Art Crawl and in pop-up galleries in my community. |
